Peer Mentoring Camp which also stands for PMC has just ended.. yet another fun filling and memorable camp at St. John’s island.. first time being there!!the feeling there is gd mainly becos is not on the main land of s’pore.. haha.. another word for it will be resort(NO stress and handphone reception!!).. Made many new friendsJ !!
A night before the camp, I fell ill.. my mum told me not to go for it.. but I insisted becos I knew I will miss out all the fun and also might not have a chance to be in the Freshmen Orientation Camp FOC.. haha lucky for me in the morning I was perfectly fine but just being a little tired cos of having only 2 hrs of sleep.. took antibiotics during the camp was not that difficult as I thought.. haha.. It rained most of the time during the camp but all the activities still go on as usual except for one if I’m not mistaken.. haha..
Day 1- Night walk alone!!! Haha in the whole island!! Freaky but the feeling is very relax.. haha.. we got to walk along the beach then forest following the light sticks.. haha.. fun and cool!! Kidnapped game is the best and the most challenging game!! Also did mass dance and cheers and came up with group name.. not forgetting station games too in the rain!! Fun fun!!
Day 2- The great wall of china!! Best activity.. haha.. Since the start of the camp, I have expected this activity.. haha the only reason why we call it leadership camp.. It was the test of working together, fighting as a team, bonding and many more.. Physically and mentally challenging activites.. nothing new to me.. Try it, taste it, do it, experience it since I was sec 1 in Military band.. if I could handle it when I was sec 1, I dun see any reason why I can’t now.. haha.. okok anyway it goes like that.. 1 hr of constant verbal abuse and physical torture!! We were given 10 secs to get into rows of 6.. took 45 secs more.. so ended up doin 45 sets of Buddha clap and UFO sth(haha cant remember).. then did another 20 sets of it.. Next is the great wall of china where all the group members’ hands and legs will locked together so as not to get push or pull by any of our instructor and camp personnel.. just imagine 3 to 5 adults pulling girls and guys and on top of that got verbal abuse!! But in the end my group succeeded!! We didn’t manage to let anyone take our members out from our group.. many ppl cried in the process but but we got bonded.. NO PAIN NO GAIN!! Lucky for all of us, no fights or arguments.. haha.. during the de-brief haha I teared a little.. haha.. cos touching!!
We had station games again, this time at the beach!! Haha.. learnt a new game called human centipede.. Ended up playing many other games in the jetty while collecting our lunch (almost all our activities were either near or at the jetty itself).. we also learnt all our mass dance steps, created our cheer for camp fire at night.. Had indoor camp fire due to unpredicted weather.. everyone was dam high.. My group performance was also good, maybe not the best.. our mass dance was almost in the top 2 but it wasn’t selected for the FOC,, have to admit that it wasn’t really catchy.. haha.. then followed by talks from our respective instructors and pictures taken in the camp.. nice nice!! Oh yea we also learn our mass dance for FOC
3rd day was spent cleaning up, practice our mass dance and at 10 am we left St. John’s island..
Overall, Memorable camp!!! And of cos one of the best camp!! Hands, legs, body all aching plus mosquito and ant bites all over my body!
till we meet again,
Nicholas
